About Solar do Rosário

The Solar do Rosário Hotel enriches the experience of living in Ouro Preto. Its colonial architecture and 19th-century mansion evoke original beauty and memories of a golden era. The facade impresses with a set of doors and English railings that surround the entire building.

Located 700 meters from Tiradentes Square, Solar do Rosário boasts a privileged location with a unique view of Pico do Itacolomi and the churches of Nossa Senhora do Rosário, São José, and São Francisco de Paula. Intimate and charming, the hotel is known for combining the comfort of its accommodations with the heritage of fine Minas Gerais hospitality.

The history of Solar do Rosário began in 1840, 17 years after Vila Rica became the Imperial City of Ouro Preto. The then Hotel Monteiro charmed visitors with its mansion's exuberance, featuring a beautiful set of doors and an English balcony that surrounded the entire building.

Over the years, with the subsequent move of the capital to Belo Horizonte, the hotel closed its doors and housed a small general store. However, in 1980, Ouro Preto was declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and the world's attention turned back to the former Vila Rica.

Interest in reactivating the hotel emerged, and in 1994, it reopened as Hotel Nossa Senhora do Rosário. In 2002, it underwent an expansion. In 2007, under new management, a significant renovation was carried out, restoring many historically valuable items in the mansion.

From that point on, the hotel was renamed Solar do Rosário. Since then, it has been combining cultural beauty with the comfort and sophistication of a high-standard hotel.

The historic building of Solar do Rosário has been completely restructured to accommodate 38 rooms, ensuring all the comfort for its guests. With apartments distributed among the Casarão, Outeiro, and Santos Dumont buildings, its room structure is divided into 8 categories:

  • 1 Superior Suite
  • 2 Barroco Suites
  • 4 Rosário Suites
  • 2 Executive Master Suites
  • 3 Executive Suites
  • 3 Ouro Master Suites
  • 18 Ouro Apartments (including 3 triples and 2 double adjoining rooms)
  • 5 Standard Apartments
